Purchase NowTheme:Â Grounded in Connection
Relationships are the cornerstone of who we are as people of faith. Our relationships with others are how we learn and grow, and are the primary way we give and receive love and grace. Through a series of well-known Bible stories, we’ll explore the joys and challenges of human relationship, community, and living with one another. In the midst of complex human relationships, we will be reminded yet again that God is here, showing us the way of connection, mercy, and grace.Â
This is a 5-week stand-alone series, not connected to the lectionary. While we wrote it for the summer, it can be used at any time of the year, and in any order/configuration. You may use all five weeks, or only a few. Choose your own adventure!Â

🛠️ Preaching Prompts
- Week 1: Adam & Eve – Genesis 2:4-22
- Connection and relationships were built into the very fabric of creation. God said creation was good, except in one instance: “It is not good for [hu]man to be alone”Â
- Week 2: 10 Commandments – Exodus 20:1-21
- When God gave the Commandments to Moses on Sinai, they were not just about purity or righteousness, but about relationships and community
- Week 3: Widow at Zarepath - 1 Kings 17: 8-16
- This is a story about connection and provision amid radical disconnection and deep scarcity.Â
- Week 4: Esther & Mordecai - Esther 4
- “For such a time as this.” This is a story about influence and power being used for the sake of community. Â
- Week 5: Peter’s betrayal and re-entry - John 18 and 21Â
- Peter denies Jesus three times, and is re-joined to the community with a meal and three questions. There is always a path back to community, and always a place at the table for those who are hungry.
